On October 2nd, Noble Naturopathic is bringing in technology that can catch bone loss years before a lifechanging fracture.
By the time most people think about their bones, it’s because something already broke. A hip. A wrist. A stress fracture that “came out of nowhere.” Often the damage has been building quietly for years before that moment.
That’s why I’m excited to bring a technology called REMS to Noble Naturopathic for one day only.
What Is REMS?
REMS stands for Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry. It’s a mouthful, so let’s make it simple.
Think of it as an ultrasound for your bones. It uses sound waves, not X-rays, to measure your spine and hip. There is no radiation involved at all.
Here’s what makes it different from a standard bone scan:
- It measures bone density. This tells us how much mineral is packed into your bone, the same number a regular scan gives you.
- It measures bone quality. This looks at the actual structure inside the bone, how strong and well built it really is.
- It calculates your fracture risk. It combines both numbers into a score that estimates your risk of a fracture over the next five years.
Why This Matters
Two people can have the exact same bone density number and very different fracture risk. One has strong, well organized bone. The other has bone that looks fine on paper but is fragile underneath.
A standard scan can’t tell them apart. REMS can.
This means we catch problems earlier, and we stop treating people who don’t actually need treatment just because one number looked low.
I recently sat down with Dr. Todd Levins, one of the leading voices behind this technology in Canada, to talk about why bone health has been overlooked for so long and what REMS changes for patients. I have a lot of respect for the work he’s doing, and it’s a great listen if you want to go deeper before your scan.

Patients who have already gone through Bone Health BC for a REMS scan have consistently said the same thing: it’s fast, it’s comfortable, and it finally gives them a clear answer.
The Details
Noble Naturopathic is hosting a REMS Bone Density Scan Day.
- Date: Friday, October 2nd
- Time: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Location: Noble Naturopathic
- Cost: $225, plus applicable taxes
Each scan takes about 25 minutes, start to finish. That includes setup, the scan itself, and wrap up. Because of that, we only have room for 15 patients that day.
If you have questions about the technology itself, before or after booking, Bone Health BC keeps a helpful FAQ page here:
What Happens After Your Scan
Getting the scan is step one. What we do with the results is where the real work begins.
If your scan shows room for improvement, here is the general approach I take with patients, built around three pillars.
Nutrients. We make sure calcium is coming in properly through your diet first. Alongside that, I usually recommend Vitamin K2 at 120 mcg per day, and I aim for a blood level of Vitamin D around 100. These three nutrients work together to help your body use calcium the right way.
Training. Strength and resistance training is not optional in my approach. Bone responds to load. Every patient, regardless of age or starting point, gets some form of resistance work built into their plan.
Extras. For some patients, we add tools like vibration therapy on top of the basics, depending on what their scan and their goals call for.
None of this is complicated. It’s consistent, it’s evidence informed, and it’s built around what your specific scan actually shows.
***Following your scan, we will recommend a 15 minute consultation with one of our Noble Naturopathic NDs to review your results and build a plan.
The Real Value Here
The most useful thing about this technology isn’t the machine. It’s the timeline it gives us.
Bone loss is silent for years before it becomes a fracture. REMS lets us see it early enough to actually change the outcome, not just react to it after the fact.
That’s the whole point of catching this now instead of later.
Ready to Book?
Spots are limited to 15 for October 2nd. If bone health has been on your mind, or you’ve simply never had it properly checked, this is the day to take care of it.
