Prolotherapy

*to promote healing and reduce pain

Prolotherapy at Noble Naturopathic

Prolotherapy is a regenerative therapy that involves injecting a solution into joints, tendons, and ligaments to promote healing and reduce pain. The solution injected typically includes dextrose (a type of sugar), an anesthetic, and occasionally other substances.

Procedure: During the procedure, the treatment area will be sterilized and the patient will be positioned for the injection. The practitioner will then use a small needle to inject the solution into the targeted area.

Cost of the injection ranges between $140-200 and is dependent on the size  and number of joints treated. One or multiple joints can be injected in one appointment. The procedure is typically done in a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced several weeks apart.

Benefits of Prolotherapy:

  • Can reduce pain in affected areas
  • May improve mobility and function in the joint and/or area treated
  • Can be analternative to surgery
  • May help to strengthen weakened or damaged tissue

Risks of Prolotherapy:

  • Pain and swelling at the injection site
  • Bruising or bleeding
  • Allergic reaction to the solution
  • Very rarely, infection or nerve damage

Common conditions treated with prolotherapy:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendinitis
  • Ligament sprains/damage
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain

A detailed history and assessment of the affected area is done prior to initiation of injection treatments.
