B12 Intramuscular Injection Therapy

What is Vitamin B12 and What Does it Do?
Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin used to support many body functions including the nervous system and circulatory system. Therefore it is extremely imprortant for focus and energy. At Noble we utilize this nutrient in many treatment plans including chronic fatigue syndrome, dementia, multiple sclerosis, anemia, Crohn’s disease and celiac disease to name a few.

B12 is present in nature in many different forms. Naturopathic Doctors at Noble are able to different B12 types of different conditions.

Many People Are Deficient
Becoming deficient in B12 is quite easy specifically for vegans and those with digestive conditions impacting absorption. This nutrient is slightly more difficult than others to absorb due to the requirement for intrinsic factor to support absorption. Without intrinsic factor release in the stomach B12 absorption declinces.

B12 absorption capacity declines with age and therefore deficiency is particularly common in elderly people. Other people at risk of deficiency include those who have had intestinal surgery, including weight loss surgery as well as those with diseases that affect the gut, such as Crohn’s disease or celiac disease.

Deficiency assessments can be made through testing at Lifelabs for serum B12. Methylmalonic acid testing, a marker of B12 status, is also available at Noble.

Vitamin B12 Shots Are Effective
An untreated vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to neurological problems, pernicious anemia and associated symptoms. Intramuscular injections are effective at increasing B12 levels to prevent or treat these conditions.

Our injectable B12 is methylcobalamin, considered the most useable, well-tolerated type. We also have hydroxycobalamin available if needed in special patient populations.

B12 injections are ideal for people with any type of absorption issues that need more of this vitamin. Not sure if you need more Vitamin B12? No problem.
